About Us :: Davis Phinney
Davis Phinney:
Davis' cycling credits span two decades and include two stage victories in the Tour de France, a US Pro title, and the 1984 Olympic Bronze Medal in the 100 km Team Time Trial. He was an electric sprinter with an effusive personality. Davis was a well-loved and highly respected member of the pioneering 7-Eleven team. He started racing at age 16 in his hometown of Boulder, Colorado where he currently resides. Since retiring from professional cycling, Davis has been a cycling sports commentator, public speaker and journalist.
Davis was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2000. The Davis Phinney Foundation was created in 2004 when a former bike camp client Kathy Krumme suggested an event to benefit PD research in Cincinnati, Ohio. The DPF has grown and continues to focus on wellness for those with Parkinson's and all chronic disease, as well as to fund research aimed at finding a cure. PD affects Davis in many ways, but he rides and participates in Bike Camps - displaying & sharing his fabulous descending skills. Davis enjoys supporting the rides & capturing the images on his tiny digital camera as well.
